Vickie Blumhagen - Special Advisor to the President

Vickie Blumhagen has been an active community volunteer in Austin for over 20 years.  Vickie will serve this year as Advisor to the TCMA President.  She is a Past President  and has served on the TCMA Board of Directors as Chair of Long Range Planning, Chair of Nominating, gala chair and many other positons. She currently serves on the Texas Medical Association Alliance Executive Board as Chair of the Finance Committee and is the incoming recording Secretary.  She also serves on the Texas Medical Association’s Physicians Benevolent Fund Committee.  Vickie was elected Executive Chair to the El Buen Samaritano board in 2009.  Vickie is currently on the advisory board of Bookspring, a pediatric literacy program.  She is an active volunteer and leader for Women's Storybook Project of Texas, an interfaith program that helps incarcerated mothers maintain relationships with their children through literacy. Vickie has been an active member at St. Matthew's where she is a Lay Eucharistic Minister and co-mentor of Education for Ministry Theology class.  She serves on the Discernment Committee for the Diocese of Texas.  She has been a long time volunteer at numerous schools in the RRISD and St. Stephen's Episcopal School.  Vickie earned a Master of Science in Social Work degree in 1987, and has worked as a Medical Social Worker and Crisis Stabilization Worker.  She is married to her husband of 28 years, Guy, and has two daughters, Kelly and Aly, who are college students.
