Julie Cowan and her husband, Dr. Rob Cowan, moved back to Austin in 1995, after having met at the state capitol in 1986.  Since returning to Austin, she has immersed herself in various community organizations, including the TCMA (President, Volunteer of the Year, multiple Board positions), the St. David's Foundation (Alliance Chair, Focus on Our Youth tri-chair, Toast of the Town committee), and the Austin Independent School District (multiple district committees, PTA presidencies, AISD Trustee from 2014-2018).  She is currently serving on the joint board between AISD and The United Way of Greater Austin to support a new PreK initiative, on the Austin Ed Fund (AISD's foundation), and as co-chair of Texas Parent PAC (a political action committee supporting pro-public ed candidates running for the Texas Legislature).  Julie and Rob have three adult children and love to spend time with them on the tennis court or "floatin' in the cove" at Lake Whitney.
