Shannon McNeil - President-Elect

Shannon joined the TCMA in 2016 when she and her husband moved to Austin and has previously served on the board as secretary, vice president of membership, and treasurer elect.

She grew up in Houston and attended Texas A&M University and Southern Methodist University. She studied Journalism and Advertising and was a writer and editor for the campus newspaper. After college she married Jeff, her high school sweetheart, and moved to San Antonio where he completed medical school and residency. After a two-year cardiothoracic surgery fellowship in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, they returned to San Antonio where they lived until he retired from the Air Force. Meanwhile, Shannon devoted her time to family and community, putting her skills to use in various volunteer capacities while managing the household during her husband's medical training and military service including two deployments to Iraq.

She and Jeff now have two adult children who live in Durham, North Carolina and Portland, Oregon and a three-year-old boxer. In addition to volunteering locally with TCMA and her church, Shannon travels to Nigeria annually with her husband as part of a medical mission team providing heart surgery through VOOM Foundation. They have also hosted Nigerian mothers and children in their home in Austin for HeartGift Foundation.

Shannon can be found most mornings on the trail around Ladybird Lake. She enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, boating on Lake Austin, trying new restaurants, bike rides, and college football.
